South Tipperary Development CLG: Breaking the Language Barrier to Employment
Country: Ireland
Industry: Community Development & Social Inclusion
Training Type: 12-week intensive small-group programme
Who Are South Tipperary Development CLG?
South Tipperary Development CLG is a community organisation focused on social inclusion, employment, and personal development. They work with people from diverse backgrounds, helping them gain the skills and confidence to get into work or move forward in their careers.
The Challenge
Many of the organisation’s clients faced a psychological barrier when using English — not a lack of qualification, but a lack of confidence. Some were qualified accountants, doctors, and professionals who weren’t working in Ireland simply because the language barrier was stopping them. Spontaneous conversation was particularly difficult, making interviews, workplace discussions, and networking feel daunting.
This is exactly the kind of challenge that industry-specific, confidence-led training is designed to address.
The Approach
Everywhere English designed a 12-week intensive programme called “Getting Work in Ireland.” Small-group sessions created space for interaction and built a comfortable environment where learners could make mistakes, ask questions, and grow. The focus was on confidence-building, industry-specific fluency, and preparing participants to communicate in real-life professional situations.
This type of community and government-backed programme sits within our English for Public Sectors offering, which supports government-funded organisations delivering employment and integration outcomes.
The Results
Participants showed noticeable growth in confidence when speaking English in both everyday and professional settings. The programme gave them a stronger foundation for career development — and for several, it was the step that finally made work in Ireland possible.
“I would recommend Everywhere English. I appreciate the company’s high level of professionalism, accountability, and the quality of the course delivery.”
— Viktoriia Sorochan, South Tipperary Development CLG
